A thrilling high-speed pursuit on Tuesday evening in Greensburg took a tragic turn when a stolen pickup truck crashed, resulting in serious injuries. The incident, which unfolded at around 8:15 p.m., involved a Chevrolet truck driven by Chane Rager of Nebraska and a Toyota Tacoma driven by John Brooks of Greensburg.

Details of the Chase
The chase began in the Walmart parking lot when officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, the driver of the Chevrolet truck, later identified as Rager, made a daring escape, speeding south from the parking lot and navigating through a grass ditch. Despite efforts to apprehend the driver, Rager managed to flee onto E. Nightingale Drive.
The Tragic Crash
As the pursuit continued, tragedy struck at the intersection of E. Nightingale Drive and Barachel Lane. The two vehicles, the Chevrolet truck and the Toyota Tacoma, collided in a devastating crash. Both drivers, Rager and Brooks, sustained severe injuries and were rushed to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Brooks, in critical condition, had to be airlifted to the hospital by Stat Flight air ambulance.
Revelation of Stolen Vehicle
Further investigation revealed that the Silver Chevrolet truck driven by Rager was reported stolen from Nebraska. Additionally, Rager had active warrants, non-extraditable, through Nebraska for theft.
