In a separate incident just eight and a half miles north of the first, Brittany Nicole Edgar, a 32-year-old woman from Spring Valley, has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run accident involving an Amish buggy. The crash, which took place in February, left six individuals injured, including at least three children.
According to the criminal complaint, Fillmore County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash on Fillmore County Highway 1 near Spring Valley late at night on February 16. Two children sustained serious injuries in the collision, with one suffering a brain bleed and another a skull fracture.
Deputies identified Edgar as the driver responsible for the hit-and-run after spotting her vehicle with front-end damage. Initially claiming she had hit a deer, Edgar later admitted to striking the buggy. She now faces a range of charges, including felony criminal vehicular operation causing substantial bodily harm and misdemeanor charges related to the incident.
