BASTROP COUNTY, Texas – Tragic School Bus Crash Claims Young Life

A devastating school bus crash outside of Austin, Texas, has left a community reeling as they mourn the loss of a beloved 5-year-old boy. Ulises Rodriguez Montoya, a preschooler from Tom Green Elementary School, tragically lost his life in the accident which occurred on Friday afternoon.

Ulises Rodriguez Montoya – A Life Cut Short

Ulises, a vibrant and curious young boy, was known for his love of dinosaurs, the color green, and his enthusiasm for school. Described by his teachers as a child filled with happiness, Ulises had a talent for drawing and often delighted his friends and family with his stories. His favourite subject to draw was dinosaurs, and he would proudly display his creations on all of his assignments.

The Tragic Accident

The school bus, carrying 44 pre-kindergarten students and 11 adults, was returning from a field trip to the Bastrop Zoo when tragedy struck. The bus was hit by a cement truck that had swerved into its lane of traffic, resulting in the devastating crash. In addition to Ulises, 33-year-old Ryan Wallace from Bastrop also lost his life in the accident.

Community Support and Mourning

The entire community has come together to support the families affected by this tragedy. Tom Green Elementary School was closed on Monday, with counselors available to provide support to students and staff members. A GoFundMe has been set up to help with Ulises’ funeral expenses, as well as to support the school community in this difficult time.
