In a heartbreaking turn of events, a man from Karnataka found himself in deep trouble after losing a staggering amount of Rs 1.5 crore in online cricket betting. The repercussions of this financial loss were grave, as his wife, unable to cope with the mounting pressure from lenders, tragically took her own life.

The Tragic Tale of Darshan Balu and His Wife Ranjita V
Darshan Balu, an assistant engineer working with the state minor irrigation department in Hosadurga, Chitradurga, was the unfortunate individual who succumbed to the pitfalls of online gambling. His wife, Ranjita V, bore the brunt of the consequences, facing harassment and threats from moneylenders who were after the hefty sum her husband had lost.
Ranjita, a young woman of 24, could not withstand the constant pressure and fear instilled in her by those seeking repayment. On March 19, she took her own life, leaving behind a heart-wrenching suicide note detailing the ordeal that led her to such a drastic step. The couple, who had a two-year-old son, now faced an unimaginable tragedy.
Legal Action Against the Culprits
In a bid to seek justice for his daughter, Venkatesh M, Ranjita’s father, filed a complaint against 13 individuals who were believed to have lent money to Darshan for his ill-fated betting activities. The allegations of abetment to suicide under IPC 306 were serious, prompting the authorities to take swift action.
Of the 13 suspects, three have been apprehended, while the rest are still at large. The arrested individuals, identified as Shivu, Girish, and Venkatesh, now face the repercussions of their involvement in the tragic chain of events that led to Ranjita’s untimely demise.
