Five other occupants of the vehicle sustained injuries of varying degrees, with two individuals rushed to Kettering Medical Center and three others to the Atrium Medical Center.

Authorities are probing the role of excessive speed in the fatal crash, with the investigation focusing on the vehicle’s speed at the time of the accident. The crash occurred on a curve in the road, leading to the SUV departing from the roadway and entering a wooded area. Middletown police and the Butler County Serious Accident Reconstruction Team spent several hours at the scene combing for evidence and piecing together the sequence of events leading to the tragic incident.
