Arrests Made in Connection with Deadly Shooting on I-391 in Chicopee

Authorities have confirmed that two suspects have been arrested following a thorough investigation into a fatal shooting incident on I-391 in Chicopee. The incident, which resulted in the tragic death of 35-year-old Chicopee resident Guyton Winspeare, has left the community in shock.

Progress in the Investigation

The investigation into the shooting began on the evening of March 12 when a vehicle arrived at Baystate Medical Center with multiple individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds. Despite the arrival of the survivors, their initial reluctance to cooperate hindered the progress of the investigation in determining the exact location of the crime scene.

It wasn’t until the following morning that investigators were able to pinpoint the scene on I-391 South between exits 3 and 4. Led by the Massachusetts State police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden DA’s Office, the investigation has made significant strides in identifying those responsible for the heinous crime.

Suspects Identified and Arrested

One of the suspects, 19-year-old Noah Torres from Springfield, was identified early on in the investigation. An arrest warrant was issued for Torres on March 22, and he now faces charges including murder, possession of a large capacity firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity feeding device without a license, and possession of ammunition.

Torres was arraigned on Tuesday, March 26, and is currently being held without bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 15.

Another individual, 22-year-old Kiana Gonzalez from Holyoke, was also arrested in connection with the investigation. Gonzalez faces charges including accessory after the fact, tampering or destruction of evidence, possession of a large capacity firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity feeding device without a license, and possession of ammunition without a license.

Gonzalez was arraigned on March 25, with bail set at $100,000. Her next court date is set for April 12.
