Arrests Made in Connection with Two Unrelated Homicides in Peoria
In a recent development in Peoria, two suspects have been identified and arrested in connection with separate homicides that occurred over the weekend. According to the Peoria police Department, Javier McGhee, 21, surrendered himself to authorities on Monday around 12:20 p.m. He has been arrested on a preliminary charge of first-degree murder and is currently being held at the Peoria County Jail.

Saturday Night Shooting Victim Identified
The first incident took place on Saturday night in the 3400 block of West Fallen Oak. Police were called to the scene at approximately 10:15 p.m. where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, the victim, identified as Trashawn Morris, 27, succumbed to his injuries. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood determined that Morris had been shot in the chest.
Sunday Morning Stabbing Victim Named
Hours later, police responded to another call at the same location on West Fallen Oak. This time, they found a woman with stab wounds and other injuries. Despite their efforts, the woman, identified as Tonya Fuller, 58, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy revealed that Fuller had been stabbed multiple times and had sustained blunt-force trauma injuries.
Suspect Apprehended in Stabbing Case
The man suspected in the stabbing, Josef Veil, 61, was apprehended on Sunday morning at around 11:18 a.m. in the 1100 block of West Virginia Avenue. He was taken into custody and arrested on a preliminary charge of murder. Veil is also being held at the Peoria County Jail in connection with Fuller’s death.
Unrelated Incidents
Coroner Harwood emphasized that the two incidents are unrelated, despite both occurring in the same area. The community has been shocked by the tragic events that unfolded over the weekend, and authorities are working diligently to ensure that justice is served for the victims and their families.
