In a shocking turn of events, Tylo Eddins, 18, of Killeen, Texas, and Ishawn Z. Pitts, 19, of Waukegan, have been charged with first-degree murder for the fatal shooting of Rodrigo Olivan, 28, and Ana Gil, 24, in Waukegan on February 24, 2024. The victims, described as random and innocent, were walking down the sidewalk in the 400 block of Powell Avenue when they were gunned down in a senseless act of violence.

According to Waukegan Deputy police Chief Scott Chastain, Eddins allegedly stole a car at gunpoint in Chicago and drove it to Waukegan, where he later picked up Pitts. The two suspects then drove through the 400 block of Powell Avenue, where they encountered Olivan and Gil walking on the sidewalk. Eddins reportedly fired shots at the victims before instructing Pitts to “finish them off.” Pitts then fired multiple shots, resulting in the tragic deaths of Olivan and Gil.

A surveillance video captured the horrific incident, showing the victims walking past a home before the stolen car sped by and shots were fired. Despite being shot multiple times, Gil managed to call 911 before succumbing to her injuries days later. Olivan was pronounced dead at the scene. After fleeing the scene, the suspects crashed the stolen car in Zion, where they were later apprehended by police.
