Authorities are now investigating whether Meade and Umphenour are linked to the deaths of two individuals in northern Idaho. The victims, an 83-year-old man named James L. Mauney and a 72-year-old man named Gerald Don Henderson, were found deceased in separate locations. Mauney was reported missing after he left home to walk his dogs, while Henderson was discovered outside his remote cabin.

Escape and Violent History

Meade, 31, was serving a 20-year sentence for a previous shooting incident involving law enforcement. Umphenour, recently released from the same prison as Meade, had a history of association with the Aryan Knights gang. Both men had mutual friends within and outside the prison system.

Hospital Ambush and Officer Injuries

The escapees’ capture followed a violent attack on Idaho Department of Correction officers at a hospital.
