The incident occurred on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at approximately 4:15 a.m. in the area of Jefferson and Fourth Streets in Hoboken. police responded to reports of a stabbing and found the victim with stab wounds to his chest. Quick action by Sgt. James Barbaro and Officer Aaron Font, who administered life-saving aid, helped stabilize the victim until he could be transported to the hospital.
Investigation and Arrest
An investigation into the stabbing led by the Detectives Bureau identified Randy Barrett Jr. as the suspect in the case. It was revealed that Barrett Jr. and three other men confronted the victim after witnessing him allegedly breaking into parked cars. Barrett Jr. turned himself in to Hoboken Police Headquarters on Wednesday and was subsequently taken into custody.
