The injured miner was rushed to the hospital in critical condition following the Wednesday evening tragedy.

Reports indicate that the miners were approximately 200 feet deep in the tunnel when the collapse happened. The deceased miner was identified as Moses Latiko, aged 25. police swiftly responded to the scene, retrieving the body and transferring it to the mortuary for further actions.

This unfortunate event comes mere weeks after a similar tragedy in Manyatta village, Vihiga, where three gold miners lost their lives due to a mine collapse.
