In a recent update from the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, it has been revealed that a third adult has been charged in connection with the tragic shooting incident that took place outside Union Station following the Chiefs rally. The individual identified as 20-year-old Terry Young from Kansas City, Missouri, has been charged with second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action.

**Details of the Incident**

According to the probable cause document, Terry Young was among a group of individuals in the vicinity of West Pershing Road and Kessler Road when an altercation broke out. Allegedly, Young brandished a firearm and aimed it at another person, moving towards them aggressively. It was reported that someone intervened between Young and the intended target, prompting Young to fire multiple shots before fleeing the scene.

The court document mentioned that Young was spotted wearing a distinctive green teddy bear backpack and sporting long dreadlocks during the Chiefs rally. The document further stated, “[Young] is seen wearing the same, unique green teddy bear backpack as the one seen on Union Station and Crown Center surveillance videos. He is also seen as having the same type of long dreads. Several of the other subjects in the YouTube video have been identified as being involved in the parade shooting as well.”

Two other individuals, Brian Favela and Joel Olivas, were previously charged in connection with a shooting incident at Crown Center in January that left six individuals injured. Witnesses reported that the altercation stemmed from a verbal argument between two groups, resulting in gunfire being exchanged in a public space without regard for the safety of bystanders, including families and children.

**Impact on the Community**

The aftermath of the shooting incident at Union Station, which occurred shortly after the Chiefs parade and rally, left a lasting impact on the community. Eleven victims, aged between 6 and 15, were rushed to Children’s Mercy Hospital, with nine of them sustaining gunshot wounds. Tragically, one person, radio DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan, lost her life in the incident.

Prior to the latest development involving Terry Young, two other suspects, Lyndell Mays and Dominic Miller, had been charged with murder in connection to Lisa Lopez-Galvan’s death. Law enforcement officials indicated that the shooting erupted following a dispute between two groups of individuals.

**Legal Proceedings**

Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker has requested that Terry Young be held on a $1 million bond. However, as per jail records, Young has not yet been apprehended by law enforcement authorities.

The ongoing investigations into the series of violent incidents following the Chiefs rally underscore the need for swift justice and accountability for those involved in perpetrating such heinous acts. As the community grapples with the aftermath of these tragic events, the hope remains that those responsible will be brought to justice and that steps will be taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future..
