The Tragic Incident

In a shocking turn of events, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office has announced that a third adult has been charged in connection with the death of a woman from the mass shooting outside Union Station following the Chiefs rally. 20-year-old Terry Young of Kansas City, Missouri, has been charged with second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action.

The Alleged Crime

According to a statement from the prosecutor’s office, Terry Young was in a group of people in the area of West Pershing Road and Kessler Road when an argument broke out. Allegedly, Young pulled out a firearm and pointed it at someone, advancing towards them. Witnesses claim he fired several shots before fleeing the scene. The court document also mentioned that Young was identified by his distinctive green teddy bear backpack and long dreadlocks.

The Previous Incident

The probable cause statement alluded to a previous shooting on January 17, 2024, at Crown Center, where six people were wounded. Three victims were not involved in any altercation but fell victim to the indiscriminate gunfire. Brian Favela and Joel Olivas were charged in connection to this shooting, which occurred four weeks before the tragic incident at Union Station.

The Day of the Shooting

Shortly after the conclusion of the Chiefs parade and rally on Valentine’s Day, chaos erupted as shots were fired west of the stage area. Panic ensued as hundreds of people scattered, and first responders rushed to aid multiple gunshot victims. Eleven victims, aged 6-15, were taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital, with nine suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, one person lost their life – radio DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan.

The Suspects

Before the recent developments, two suspects had already been charged with murder in connection to Lisa Lopez-Galvan’s death: Lyndell Mays, 23, and Dominic Miller, 18. Law enforcement officials reported that the shooting stemmed from a dispute between two groups of individuals.
