In a shocking update from Kansas City, Missouri, Terry J. Young is now facing charges in connection with the deadly shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade and rally. The 20-year-old has been charged with second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action, according to Jackson County prosecutors.

The incident, which took place at the Chiefs rally, involved an argument that quickly escalated into gunfire, resulting in the tragic death of one woman and injuries to at least 25 others. Young is the third adult to be charged in the shooting, alongside 18-year-old Dominic M. Miller and 23-year-old Lyndell Mays.
Court documents reveal that Young, along with two others, approached a different group which led to the argument. Prosecutors state that Mays and Young both brandished firearms during the altercation, with surveillance footage showing Young firing multiple shots.
While all three suspects are in custody, it was Miller who allegedly shot and killed Lisa Lopez-Galvan during the incident. Mays and Miller are currently being held on $1 million bonds, with prosecutors requesting the same for Young.
Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected as more details emerge. Federal court documents indicate that a total of 12 individuals were armed, with at least six firing their weapons during the rally.

The complexity of the case has been highlighted by Peters Baker, who described it as one of the most challenging investigations she has encountered. Despite the arrests, she stressed that the legal process is far from over.
In related news, two teenagers have also been charged in family court in connection with the shooting. One 16-year-old suspect had their charges amended to include unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest. Both teens are yet to be identified as they await certification to stand trial as adults.
A certification hearing is scheduled for April 30, during which a Family Court judge will determine if the 16-year-old suspect will be tried as an adult. Meanwhile, a second 16-year-old remains detained at the Juvenile Detention Center on gun-related charges.
