Teenager Charged in Connection with Philadelphia Mass Shooting

Philadelphia authorities have charged a fifth person in connection with the mass shooting that injured eight teenagers on March 6. Jeremiah Jefferson, a 15-year-old, has been taken into custody and faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, firearm violations, and other related crimes.

Previously charged individuals include Ahnile Buggs and Jamaal Tucker, both 18, Jermahd Carter, 19, and Asir Boone, 17. The group is accused of firing multiple rounds at a group of Northeast High School students boarding a SEPTA bus at 7300 Rising Sun Ave.

One of the victims, a 16-year-old boy, remains in critical condition after being shot nine times throughout his body.

Authorities revealed that Jeremiah Jefferson was present in a Dunkin’ near the shooting scene and was in communication with the other accused individuals. He provided descriptions of the victims to the shooters and even identified what he himself was wearing to avoid becoming a victim.

Jefferson allegedly informed the shooters when the victims left the store, allowing Buggs, Carter, and Boone to carry out the shooting. police have video evidence of Jefferson in the area.

Motive and Other Shootings

The motive for the shooting remains unknown at this time. Authorities suspect a possible connection between the March 6 incident and other shootings in the area, including the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Dayemen Taylor at Ogontz and Godfrey avenues on March 4.

Buggs is also facing charges of homicide in connection with a February 15 shooting on the 5800 block of Rising Sun Avenue, where a 20-year-old man was fatally shot.
