Indore, Madhya Pradesh: A heart-wrenching incident unfolded at Gutkeshwar Mahadev Temple in the Khudel police station area, where an eight-year-old boy, Govind, tragically drowned in a 25-feet deep Kund on Tuesday afternoon. The young boy, a resident of Malvi Mohalla in Devguradiya, was a devoted student in the second standard.

Details of the Incident
According to Investigating Officer Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari, Govind visited the temple regularly to offer his prayers. On the fateful day, he was sitting near one of the four Kunds within the temple premises when the tragedy struck. In an attempt to catch a fish with his hand, Govind lost his balance and fell into the deep waters of the Kund.
A five-year-old companion accompanied Govind to the temple that day. However, when they sat near the Kund, the younger boy suggested they return home, but Govind declined. As evening fell and Govind did not return home, his family grew concerned and filed a missing person report with the police.
Search and Recovery Efforts
The police initiated a search operation the following day, focusing on the temple premises where Govind was last seen. Reviewing CCTV footage confirmed that Govind had not left the area, prompting the authorities to call in divers to scour the Kund. Tragically, Govind’s lifeless body was discovered submerged in the water on Wednesday morning.

Typically bustling with visitors during morning and evening prayer sessions, the temple was eerily quiet at the time of the incident, with no witnesses to the young boy’s tragic accident. Govind’s father, a labourer, is left to grieve the loss of his only son. The police have launched an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident, including conducting a post-mortem examination of Govind’s body.
