Friday Morning Incident

The first attempted breach occurred on Friday morning at around 8 a.m. when CBP officers at the Del Rio International Bridge encountered a passenger vehicle driven by a female U.S. citizen arriving from Mexico. Upon further examination, it was revealed that the passengers in the car, who were presented as U.S. citizens, were actually Mexican nationals without valid entry documents.

Saturday Early Morning Incident

Just 19 hours later on Saturday at approximately 3 a.m., another smuggling attempt was thwarted when a female U.S. citizen arriving from Mexico presented a U.S. birth certificate for an adult female passenger. The passenger was later discovered to be a Mexican citizen without the necessary documents to enter the U.S.

Saturday Morning Incident

About an hour later at 4 a.m. on Saturday, officers encountered a passenger vehicle driven by a female U.S. citizen arriving from Mexico. The driver presented U.S. birth certificates for two adult male passengers posing as minors. Upon further examination, it was revealed that the passengers were Mexican citizens using false documents.

Saturday Evening Incident

The penultimate smuggling attempt occurred on Saturday evening at around 9 p.m. when officers discovered a male Mexican citizen arriving from Mexico attempting to hide his adult son in the cargo area of the vehicle. The son, also a Mexican citizen, had no valid entry documents.

Sunday Morning Incident

The final incident took place on Sunday morning at approximately 7 a.m. when a female U.S. citizen arriving from Mexico presented a U.S. birth certificate for a minor female passenger. The minor was later revealed to be a Mexican citizen without the proper documents to enter the U.S.

In total, three U.S. citizen drivers and one Mexican citizen were arrested for alleged violations of U.S. immigration law, and four vehicles were seized in connection with these smuggling attempts. Port Director Liliana Flores of the Del Rio Port of Entry emphasized the legal and criminal consequences of violating U.S. immigration law.
