In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 43-year-old doctor from Thane district in Maharashtra, identified as Kinjal Kantilal Shah, allegedly jumped into the Arabian Sea from the Atal Setu bridge road in Mumbai on Monday afternoon. Shah, who had been battling depression for several years and was undergoing treatment, resided with her father at the Navin Asha building on Dadasaheb Phalke Road.

Despite extensive search efforts, Shah’s body has not yet been found. A suicide note recovered from her residence indicated that she had been struggling with severe depression for the past eight years and had made the decision to end her life. On the afternoon of March 18, Shah took a taxi from near her Parel residence and instructed the driver to take her to the Atal Setu bridge. Approximately 14.3 kilometres from Mumbai, she asked the driver to stop. Despite initial reluctance from the driver, Shah insisted, and upon stopping, she got off the vehicle and tragically jumped off the bridge into the sea.

Shah’s father, who had filed a missing person report at the Bhoiwada police station, discovered the suicide note upon her return home. The note revealed her intention to end her life at the Atal Setu bridge, also known as the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link.
