Man Accused of Pointing Gun at police Officer Released on Pretrial
In Peoria, a man named Brian Childers was arrested on charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, obstructing/resisting police, armed violence, possession of methamphetamine, and multiple traffic violations. Despite the state petitioning to deny pretrial release, Childers was given pretrial release with the requirement to wear a GPS ankle monitor.

When officers approached, Childers displayed a handgun and pointed it at an officer before fleeing at high speed.

Childers was eventually located in East Peoria and taken into custody without further incident. During the arrest, officers found a firearm and illegal drugs in his possession.
