Multiple teams of C-60, a specialized combat unit of the Gadchiroli police, along with the Central Reserve Police Force’s Quick Action team, were deployed to search the area. As one of the C-60 unit teams was conducting a search in the Kolamarka mountains near Repanpalli on Tuesday morning, the Naxalites opened fire on them. The security personnel retaliated, leading to a fierce gun battle.

It was revealed that these Naxalites were carrying a collective cash reward of Rs 36 lakh on their heads.
