Police Response and Operation Details
Upon receiving the intel, multiple teams were dispatched, including the C-60, a specialized combat unit of the Gadchiroli police, and the Central Reserve Police Force’s Quick Action team. One of the C-60 unit teams was conducting a search in the Kolamarka mountains near Repanpalli when they came under fire from the Naxalites. The security personnel retaliated, resulting in a fierce exchange of fire.
Discovery of Bodies and Recovered Items
After the gunfire ceased, the area was thoroughly searched, leading to the discovery of the bodies of four male Naxalites. These individuals were found to be carrying a collective cash reward of Rs 36 lakh on their heads. Additionally, the security forces recovered weapons and other items from the site, including an AK-47 gun, a carbine, two country-made pistols, Naxal literature, and more.
Identification of Deceased Naxalites
The police have identified the deceased Naxalites as Vargeesh and Magtu, who were secretaries of different Naxal committees, along with platoon members Kursang Raju and Kudimetta Venkatesh. The elimination of these individuals marks a significant blow to the Naxal movement in the region.
