Police Response to Felony Warrant
The State Police Emergency Support Team was called to the scene by Coldwater Police to serve a multi-count felony arrest warrant, including charges of home invasion, at a residence on Coldwater’s west side. The wanted individual was identified as 32-year-old Richard Wilkinson, who was the resident of the property.
Confrontation with Armed Suspect
According to a State Police news release, Wilkinson confronted the police officers while armed with an AR style rifle. In response to the threat, a member of the Emergency Support Team fired shots at Wilkinson, resulting in fatal injuries.
