Tragic Bus Crash Claims Two Lives and Injures Dozens
In a devastating incident early today in the Mueang district of Nakhon Ratchasima, a fatal bus crash involving a long-haul vehicle has left two drivers dead and 44 passengers injured. The double-decker bus operated by Lotusphibul Tours was on its way from Bung Kan to Bangkok when tragedy struck.

Details of the Accident
The accident occurred around 2am, when the bus collided with a steel support for a road sign, causing a massive impact that resulted in the immediate deaths of both the bus driver and the relief driver. Among the 44 injured passengers, 12 were from Laos.
Pho Klang police reported that four of the injured passengers are in critical condition and have been rushed to Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital for urgent treatment. The remaining passengers received medical attention for their injuries and have since been discharged.
Cause of the Crash
According to police investigations, the bus departed from Nakhon Ratchasima 2 bus terminal after a meal break and was en route to Bangkok. The driver appeared to lose control of the vehicle while navigating a curve, leading to the tragic collision with the steel support for the road sign.
Safety Regulations and Operations
Lotusphibul Tours, which operates on various northeastern routes under a concession from the state-owned Transport Co, includes the Bangkok-Bung Kan route in its services. As part of safety regulations for long-haul bus services, each bus must have two drivers on board at all times, as reported by Bangkok Post.

Recent Road Accidents in Thailand
This fatal bus crash comes on the heels of another tragic road accident in Udon Thani, where a pickup truck veered off course, collided with a streetlight, and plunged into a central ditch on Mittraphap Road. The driver, a 56-year-old man from Udon Thani, lost his life in the accident, while his wife sustained injuries.
Witthaya Panlao, Chief of the Udon Thani Highway Police Volunteer Rescue Unit, was alerted to the crash involving a bronze Toyota Vigo with license plate ฒห-869 Bangkok. Upon arrival, the vehicle was found in a severely damaged state, with the driver, identified as Chuad Krutlakorn, tragically deceased.
As investigations continue into these recent road accidents, authorities are urging all drivers to exercise caution and adhere to road safety regulations to prevent further tragedies on Thailand’s roads.
