Arrest Made After Attempted Robbery and Stabbing at IHOP in Newark
In a harrowing turn of events, the Delaware State police have arrested 35-year-old Andrew Ford of Bear for his involvement in an attempted robbery and stabbing at an IHOP in Newark. The incident took place on March 16, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m. at the IHOP located at 2644 Kirkwood Highway.

The Incident
Reports indicate that Ford entered the IHOP wearing a mask and brandishing a knife, demanding money from the cashier. When the cashier refused to comply, Ford fled the restaurant but was pursued by two brave patrons. In the ensuing scuffle, Ford lashed out with the knife, injuring one of the men who had tried to subdue him. Luckily, with the help of other individuals, Ford was restrained until law enforcement arrived on the scene.
The Heroes
The two men who intervened in the situation have been identified as brothers who, along with two others, stepped in to prevent further harm. The injured man, a 31-year-old, was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery to treat serious injuries to his hand sustained during the altercation.
Legal Action
Following the incident, Ford was transported to a medical facility for unrelated treatment and later charged with multiple felonies, including Attempted Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, and Aggravated Menacing. He was arraigned and is currently being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $165,000 secured bond.
