Former Employee Kills Three at Shipping Company’s Office Near Athens
In a tragic incident near Athens, a former employee of European Product Carriers, a shipping company, shot dead three people before turning the gun on himself. The suspect, identified as a 70-year-old Egyptian national, was found dead next to a hunting rifle believed to have been used in the shooting. Among the deceased is the owner of the company.
The shocking incident took place in Glyfada, a seaside resort located about 12km south of Athens. The gunman broke into the company’s office, firing at employees and killing two men and a woman. Witnesses reported that the armed man barricaded himself on the second floor of the building after the shootings. police officers, along with the elite counter-terrorism unit EKAM, cordoned off the area surrounding the building as they attempted to negotiate with the gunman.
A company worker, who witnessed the terrifying events, described the moment they heard the gunshots and saw two men informing others about the shooter. As chaos unfolded, the witness managed to escape through the back door of the garage.
