ICE Arrests 123 Fugitives in New Orleans During Monthlong Operation

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers in New Orleans have successfully apprehended 123 fugitives during a targeted enforcement operation that took place between January 1 and January 31. This operation, conducted in collaboration with law enforcement partners in Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, and Louisiana, aimed to arrest noncitizens who posed threats to public safety or border security.

The primary focus of this enforcement action was on fugitive noncitizens who were eligible for removal, as well as noncitizens who presented a danger to citizens, immigrants, and visitors within the United States. The individuals arrested during this operation had been convicted of various crimes, including rape, statutory rape, molestation of a minor, illegal possession of a firearm, discharge of a firearm, drug trafficking, money laundering, aggravated assault, and burglary. These individuals will remain in ICE custody until their removal is carried out.

The charges included 33,209 assaults, 4,390 sex and sexual assaults, 7,520 weapons offenses, 1,713 charges or convictions for homicide, and 1,655 kidnapping offenses.
