Mischief and Breach of Probation in Downtown Belleville

Belleville police were called to an address in the downtown core on February 9, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. for a report of mischief. An unknown individual had smashed a front window and fled the scene. Following an investigation that involved speaking to the property supervisor and reviewing footage from the downtown camera network, the suspect was swiftly identified as 48-year-old Mark Proctor, who had no fixed address.

Police managed to locate Proctor shortly after the incident and took him into custody. He was subsequently charged with mischief and breaching his probation. Proctor was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in March.

Violating Probation Conditions Leads to Arrest

On the same day, February 9, 2024, at 6 p.m., police responded to an open line 911 call from a residence in Belleville’s east end. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 53-year-old man hiding in a closet. The individual was identified as a Belleville resident who was on probation with specific conditions forbidding him from entering the residence or communicating with its occupants.

As a result, the male suspect was charged with two counts of breaching his probation and was held for a bail hearing.

Suspicious Person Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

During the late hours of February 10, 2024, at 11:50 p.m., police responded to a residence in Belleville’s west end following a report of a suspicious person. The homeowner had observed an unknown male on their security camera in the backyard. Officers arrived at the scene and discovered 34-year-old Wilfred Truscott, a Belleville resident, in the backyard.

Aside from trespassing, Truscott was also wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for two charges of failing to comply with probation. He was promptly arrested and taken to the Belleville Police Service. Truscott was later released on an undertaking with a court date set for February.

Over the course of three days, Belleville police responded to a total of 230 calls for service. These incidents highlight the diligent work of law enforcement in addressing and resolving various criminal activities within the city.
