Two dead and One Hospitalized in Suspected Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Tragedy struck a home just north of the Twin Cities as two people were found dead and another was rushed to the hospital after suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. The incident occurred in Princeton Township, where emergency responders were called to a residence on 110th Avenue late Sunday evening.

The Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 911 caller from the home alerted authorities to the situation. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 27-year-old man lifeless in an upstairs bedroom, accompanied by a dog that was in and out of consciousness. Unfortunately, both had succumbed to the dangerous gas. A female victim was also found deceased, along with a cat.

The caller, who had also been exposed to carbon monoxide, was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. As of now, her condition remains unknown. The fate of the dog is also uncertain at this time. The deceased man has been identified as Marcos Larson, but the identities of the other individuals in the home have yet to be released.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the residents were relying on a gas-powered generator and propane heaters to warm the house due to a lack of power and running water. Sheriff Kyle Burton emphasized the dangers of running combustion engines indoors, stressing the importance of having functional carbon monoxide alarms in every home.

Carbon monoxide is an odorless and colorless gas that can be lethal when inhaled in high concentrations. Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include headaches, dizziness, nausea, confusion, and eventually loss of consciousness.
