Westport, UK – A 60-year-old driver has been arrested after allegedly leaving the scene of an accident while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Kevin Metcalf, a resident of Trumbull, was found passed out behind the wheel near the intersection of Post Road East and Compo Road North.

The incident occurred on February 2, when a motor vehicle accident was reported to the police. Responding officers discovered that the driver of a car had fled the scene after striking the rear of another vehicle. Fortunately, the occupants of the vehicle that was hit did not sustain any serious injuries.

To facilitate the investigation and prevent traffic congestion, the driver of the struck vehicle was directed to pull into a nearby parking lot. It was there that the police found the suspected vehicle and its driver, Kevin Metcalf, unconscious in the driver’s seat.

Upon awakening, Metcalf was asked to perform a field sobriety test, which he reportedly failed. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, evading responsibility, and illegal operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

Metcalf was released after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on February 20 for arraignment.
