Tragic Shooting Claims the Life of Two-Year-Old Jeremy Poou-Caceres
LANGLEY PARK, MD – In a heart-wrenching incident that has shocked the community, two-year-old Jeremy Poou-Caceres lost his life in a senseless act of violence. Jeremy was shot and killed while his 17-year-old mother, Rose Carceras, was pushing him in his stroller near the Bedford Station Apartments on Kanawha Street on Thursday night.

According to the police, Jeremy’s life was tragically cut short when he became caught in the crossfire of a shooting between two groups of men. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Jeremy succumbed to his injuries on February 8th.
While Carceras was also shot in the leg during the incident, her injuries are not life-threatening. She will undergo surgery but is expected to recover. In a heartbreaking interview with FOX 5, Carceras expressed how Jeremy was her inspiration and the driving force in her life.
“Losing Jeremy has been incredibly difficult for me and my family. He was not just my son, but he was also like a son to my two aunts. They were always there for him and losing him has left a huge void in our lives,” Carceras shared.
Carceras went on to describe Jeremy as a sweet and loving child who adored watching Cocomelon and had a particular fondness for orange juice and eggs. His infectious joy and well-behaved nature endeared him to all who knew him.

The news of Jeremy’s untimely death has prompted an outpouring of support from the community. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by Jacobo Saravia to assist with Jeremy’s funeral expenses. Saravia fondly remembered Jeremy as a child full of love and happiness, and his tragic loss to gang violence has left everyone devastated.
On a positive note, the Prince George’s County Police Department has made progress in the case. Two suspects, Israel Fuentes Jr. and Johnny Alejandro Turcios, both from Lewisdale, have been arrested and charged with first- and second-degree murder in connection to Jeremy’s shooting. However, investigators believe that two other individuals were also involved and are urging the community to come forward with any information that may help bring them to justice.
The shocking incident has left the community in mourning and has reaffirmed the need to address the issue of gun violence. Prince George’s Police Assistant Chief Vernon Hale III expressed his condolences to Jeremy’s family and urged the community to come together for justice.
