Franklin Woman Claims Self-Defense in Shooting of Alleged Satan

Franklin, Ind. – In an unexpected turn of events, court documents have revealed that a woman accused of a fatal shooting in Johnson County last Monday claimed that she killed the victim, 35-year-old Jacob Harville, because she believed he was Satan and that by killing him, she saved them all.

The incident took place on February 5, when Harville was shot at a home in the 3000 block of North County Road 625 East. He was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but tragically succumbed to them two days later.

According to court documents obtained by News 8, Harville’s mother contacted the authorities after the shooting, reporting that a woman named Alicia Haupt had entered their home and shot her son in the head. Harville’s mother added that before the shooting, Haupt had proclaimed that Jacob was the devil.

Deputies later found Haupt walking away from Harville’s truck, which was parked on Whiteland Road, three-quarters of a mile away from the scene. Haupt was subsequently apprehended by the officers.

During questioning, Haupt made several shocking claims. She initially requested to be called “Jesus” instead of Alicia, stating that she had created the world. Haupt then confessed that she had to kill Harville because he was Satan and that she had to act before he harmed anyone else.

Further investigation revealed that Haupt had been living at the home of Harville and his wife, claiming that she was their best friend. Haupt described Harville as the embodiment of evil and stated that she felt compelled to protect herself, his wife, and his mother by taking his life.

Haupt’s lack of remorse for her actions was evident, as she referred to Harville and his family as demons. She was promptly arrested and is currently being held at the Johnson County jail without bond, facing charges of murder and pointing a firearm.
