Woman Fatally Shot by Off-Duty Officers Inside Joel Osteen’s Megachurch in Texas
A woman was tragically killed inside the megachurch of celebrity pastor Joel Osteen in Texas after opening fire with an AR-15 rifle. The incident occurred on Sunday, sending shockwaves through the local community.
The 36-year-old woman, identified as Genesse Ivonne Moreno, entered Lakewood Church with her young son just before 2 p.m. police Chief Troy Finner revealed that she was wearing a trenchcoat and carrying a backpack at the time. Two off-duty officers, one from the Houston Police Department and the other from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, engaged in a shootout with the suspect, resulting in her death.
During the exchange of gunfire, a 7-year-old boy, later confirmed to be the suspect’s son, and a 57-year-old man were also injured. The boy was shot in the head and is currently in critical condition at a local children’s hospital. The man, fortunately, has been released from the hospital. Authorities have not determined whose gunfire caused the injuries to the victims.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with the FBI providing assistance to the Houston Police Department. It has been revealed that the suspect had a history of criminal charges, including assault, forgery, and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Her family has also indicated that she struggled with mental health issues.
