Suspect Identified in Lakewood Church Shooting Incident
Houston, UK – The suspect involved in the shooting at Lakewood Church in Houston has been identified as 36-year-old Genesse Ivonne Moreno, according to a search warrant obtained by Nexstar. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when Moreno entered the megachurch armed with a long gun.
The Houston Police Department reported that the suspect opened fire, injuring one man. Two off-duty security officers quickly responded and engaged the suspect, resulting in her death. Tragically, a young boy who was accompanying Moreno was also shot and is not expected to survive.
The search warrant revealed that Moreno was armed with an AR-15 and had made threats about a bomb. Authorities discovered substances consistent with the manufacture of explosive devices, although the credibility of the threat is still under investigation.

One of the off-duty officers involved in the incident was identified as Agent Adrian Herrera from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC). TABC Chairman Kevin Lilly commended the officers for their quick response, stating that they likely prevented a much greater tragedy through their brave actions.
Agent Herrera, who has been employed by TABC for five years, has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation into the shooting.
Houston Police Chief Troy Finner described the suspect as a woman in her early to mid-30s wearing a trenchcoat and carrying a backpack. He also addressed the tragic situation involving the young boy, expressing blame towards Moreno for putting the child in danger.
Houston Mayor John Whitmire and Chief Finner will be hosting a press conference on Monday to provide further updates on the incident.
The shooting at Lakewood Church has shocked the community, highlighting the need for increased security measures in public spaces. Investigations into the motives and background of Genesse Ivonne Moreno are ongoing.
