Woman Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle in Southwest Charlotte

A tragic incident occurred in southwest Charlotte when a woman was fatally struck by a vehicle, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. The victim, identified as Cyndee Taylor Dutton, 24, succumbed to her injuries at Atrium Health Main.
The incident took place on Sunday, Feb. 11, in the early hours of the morning. Officers were called to the 3900 block of South Tryon Street after receiving reports of a pedestrian involved in a crash. Upon arrival, they discovered Dutton lying in the road with serious injuries.
Initially, the vehicle responsible for the collision was not found at the scene. However, shortly afterwards, the driver, Michael Anthony Putnam, 35, contacted the police to report the incident. He had stopped his Chevrolet Equinox on the side of I-77 near Clanton Road. The vehicle displayed heavy front-end damage, consistent with the collision.
Putnam was found to be impaired by DWI Task Force Officers and was taken in for questioning. He has since been charged with felony death by motor vehicle and is currently in custody at Mecklenburg County jail.
