Labourer Brutally Beaten to Death by Co-workers at Construction Site in Gurugram

A shocking incident unfolded at an under construction site in Gurugram as a 51-year-old labourer was brutally beaten to death by some of his co-workers. The victim, identified as Avesh Alam, hailed from Bihar and worked as a labourer at the Godrej company’s construction site in Sector 106. He resided in the labour camp located nearby.

According to the complaint filed by Mohammad Ubed Alam, a native of Kishanganj in Bihar and a co-villager of the deceased, Avesh Alam lived and worked alongside him in the same labour camp. Recounting the horrific incident, Ubed stated, “It was around 9 pm on Sunday night when I came out from my room after hearing a noise and saw that labour camp in-charge Shiv Narayan and four-five other labourers were fighting with the victim… Soon they started beating him and took him to his room.” Ubed further added, “After some time, when the noise subsided, I reached his room and found that Avesh had died. After this, the police was called.”

Upon receiving the complaint, the police registered an FIR against Shiv Narayan and the other assailants under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code at the Rajendra Park police station. The authorities have initiated a manhunt to apprehend the suspects, while the victim’s body has been kept in the mortuary and his family has been informed.

This tragic incident has left the community in shock and raised concerns about the safety and security of labourers working at construction sites. The incident highlights the urgent need for stricter regulations and enhanced security measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

The local police spokesperson, Subhash Boken, assured that the investigation is underway and efforts are being made to bring the culprits to justice. He stated, “An FIR has been registered and we are conducting raids to nab the suspects. The body has been kept in the mortuary and the family of the deceased has been informed.”
