Four Students Booked for Brawl Outside Private University After Viral Video

Noida police have taken action against four individuals who were involved in a violent altercation outside Amity University in Noida’s Sector 125. The incident, which was captured on video and widely shared on social media, prompted the authorities to register a case of rioting and causing hurt against the suspects.

While the police suspect that the four men are students of Amity University, they are yet to confirm this as the individuals are currently at large. Savita Mehta, the vice president of communications at the Amity Education Group, stated, “It is not yet confirmed whether the students are of the university.”

The video footage depicts a chaotic scene with several men engaging in physical violence, some resorting to using objects from nearby shops as weapons. The police responded by taking suo motu cognizance of the video and filing a first information report at the Sector 126 police station. However, the exact cause of the altercation remains unclear.

According to an anonymous senior police officer associated with the case, the suspects were identified by an eyewitness who is a student of Amity University. The officer emphasized that the suspects’ status as university students can only be verified once they are apprehended and their documents are examined.

Rajneesh Verma, assistant commissioner of police-1, Noida, revealed that the four students, known by their first names Tushar, Prashant, Mohit, and Bhati, have been booked under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 147 (rioting) of the Indian Penal Code.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of students within the university premises. Amity University is renowned for its academic excellence and rigorous curriculum, but incidents like these undermine its reputation and call for heightened vigilance.
