Tragedy Strikes as 4-Year-Old Girl is Electrocuted in Siaya County

A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Saturday evening in K’Onyango ‘B’ village, Udira Kamrembo, in Ugenya Sub-County, as a 4-year-old girl lost her life due to electrocution. The young victim, identified as Precious Atieno Oduor, tragically met her untimely demise after coming into contact with a water heater.

Siaya County police Commander, Cleti Kimaiyo, revealed that the distressing incident was reported to the Sega police station by Assistant Chief Michael Nyadenge. According to the report, the incident occurred in the child’s parents’ house. It was discovered that the minor, who was a PP1 pupil at Udira Kamrembo Primary School, had been left at home by her mother, Conslate Akinyi Otieno, while she went to the neighborhood.

Upon her return, Otieno was met with a harrowing scene. She found her precious daughter electrocuted, with the water heater suspected to have been the cause of the tragic accident. The police investigation team from Sega police station arrived at the scene and observed electric burns on the child’s hands, palms, and chest.

Kimaiyo confirmed the unfortunate incident and mentioned that the body of the young victim was taken to Sega Mission Hospital mortuary. It will remain there until a postmortem examination is conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.
