Terrifying Moment Captured as Parents Foil Attempted Kidnapping at Miami Beach CVS

In a heart-stopping incident that unfolded at a CVS in Miami Beach, a 4-year-old boy narrowly escaped a potential kidnapping. The entire encounter was captured on the store’s security cameras, revealing the heroic actions of the child’s parents as they fought off the assailant.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning at approximately 11:55 am, according to Law & Crime. As the family was exiting the store, a man entered and quickly made his move. The child’s mother passed by the alleged kidnapper just as he abruptly changed direction, violently snatching the young boy off the ground and clutching him tightly.
Without hesitation, the boy’s father sprang into action, abandoning his purchases and swiftly grabbing hold of the would-be kidnapper from behind, pulling him away from his son. The mother, displaying incredible bravery, rushed to her child’s aid, scooping him up into her arms as he fell to the ground when the assailant released his grip.
Meanwhile, the father continued to engage the alleged kidnapper, tearing off his jacket and forcefully pushing him into the store’s walls and doors. The assailant has since been identified as 26-year-old Nicolas M. Sternaman, according to Miami-Dade Corrections.

The child, visibly shaken by the ordeal, clung to his mother as they sought safety. A police report cited by CBS Miami stated that the father, along with another individual, chased after Sternaman. Law enforcement authorities were alerted and ultimately apprehended the suspect.
Eyewitness Zachary Jefferson expressed shock at the speed and intensity of the incident, telling local CBS affiliate WFOR, “The guy just came out of nowhere.” Jefferson initially believed the altercation was related to the boy’s mother’s purse.
Sternaman now faces multiple charges, including kidnapping a child under the age of 13, battery, and aggravated child abuse. Records reviewed by Law & Crime indicate that he was previously arrested on January 4 for petit theft. He posted bail and is scheduled to stand trial on April 1.
