ATLANTA – Atlanta police have identified the group responsible for setting fire to a patrol car in the early hours of Saturday morning. Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum revealed during a press conference that a group called “Defend the Atlanta Forest,” also known as “Stop Cop City,” has claimed responsibility for the arson.

The incident occurred in the 300 block of Greendale Drive in Lakewood Heights around 4 a.m. The car was discovered engulfed in flames, causing extensive damage. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

This act of arson comes just days after another incident involving a series of similar attacks. In that case, authorities arrested 30-year-old John Robert Mazurek, who has been charged with first-degree arson. However, the investigation is ongoing, and the police are still searching for a person of interest connected to the recent incident.
