Tragic Accident Claims Two Lives in Wrong-Way Collision on Interstate 84

In the early hours of Saturday, February 10th, a devastating accident occurred in Hartford County, specifically in the town of Manchester. Connecticut State police reported that a 2008 Audi Q7 was travelling in the wrong direction on eastbound Interstate 84, in the right lane, just west of Exit 62.
The Audi SUV collided head-on with a commercial vehicle in the right lane before veering into the center lane and crashing into another truck. The force of the impact was tremendous, resulting in the death of both the driver and the front right passenger of the Audi. The driver was identified as 44-year-old Brenda Mendrell, a resident of Hartford, while the passenger was 44-year-old Jermyra Cortes, also from Hartford. Tragically, both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
Miraculously, the driver of the first truck involved in the collision escaped unharmed. However, the driver of the second truck sustained what is believed to be minor injuries and was immediately transported to Hartford Hospital for treatment.
All three vehicles involved in the accident suffered significant damage and had to be towed from the scene. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, as authorities work tirelessly to uncover the cause of this horrific accident.
