On the evening of January 31, a decapitated body was discovered in a deserted bathroom, posing a challenge for the police to identify the victim. The missing head and shoulder, along with stray dog activity, further complicated the investigation.

However, despite these difficult circumstances, the determined police force managed to gather crucial clues that ultimately led them to unravel the mystery surrounding the body. After more than ten days of relentless investigation, the police were able to identify the deceased as Babulal, a 70-year-old resident of Timarni village in Harda district.

The investigation revealed that the prime suspects in the case were Babulal’s niece, Lalita, who was married to Madanlal, and her partner, Imrat Goud. The couple was facing severe financial difficulties, which led them to make the desperate decision to dispose of Babulal’s body in their neighbor’s bathroom.

Speaking about the case, Santosh Dudhi, the in-charge of Industrial Area Police station, revealed that the decapitated body was found in a deserted bathroom located behind Nanuram Mandloi’s house in Lodhi Mohalla. Initially, the authorities struggled to identify the deceased. However, through careful examination of clothing and other evidence, they were able to confirm that the body belonged to Babulal.

It was discovered that Babulal lived with Lalita and Imrat, who had rented a room from Rajendra Yadav in November 2023. Claiming to be a couple, Lalita and Imrat relied on Babulal’s monthly pension of Rs 16,000 as their sole source of income. Due to his illness, Babulal rarely left the house.

On January 27, when the landlord noticed that the rented room was locked, he assumed that Lalita and Imrat had returned to their village. However, the shocking discovery of Babulal’s decapitated body in the abandoned bathroom on January 31 revealed the tragic truth. The post-mortem examination confirmed that Babulal died of natural causes.

Although Babulal’s death was not caused by foul play, the police still charged landlord Rajendra Yadav for failing to inform the local authorities about his tenants. Lalita and Imrat were also charged for not reporting Babulal’s death. The three individuals have been arrested and charged under sections 188 and 176 of the IPC. In their statement, Lalita and Imrat explained that they resorted to this shocking act due to their inability to afford Babulal’s funeral expenses.

The successful resolution of this case highlights the dedication and perseverance of the Pithampur Industrial Area Police in bringing justice to the deceased’s family..
