British Indian IT Executive Dies After Assault Outside Restaurant in Washington DC
A 41-year-old Indian-origin IT executive, Vivek Taneja, tragically lost his life after sustaining life-threatening injuries during an assault outside a restaurant in the American capital, Washington DC. This incident marks the seventh death of an Indian or Indian-American in the country in recent months, highlighting growing concerns over the safety of the Indian community.

The assault took place on February 2, in the 1100 block of 15th Street NW, just seven blocks away from the White House. police arrived at the scene at 2 am and discovered Taneja suffering from severe head injuries. He was immediately rushed to a trauma centre, but sadly, his injuries proved fatal, and he passed away on February 7.
The Metropolitan Police in Washington DC released a surveillance image of the suspect and offered a reward of up to $25,000 for any information leading to his arrest. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the assault.
According to the police report, Taneja was knocked to the ground by the suspect, causing him to hit his head on the pavement. The altercation occurred at Shoto and Akedo, two sister Japanese restaurants in the Midtown Center building.
