Sharples Resident Claims to Have Witnessed UFO for Second Time

Stephen Maloney, a resident of Sharples, recently reported seeing a UFO for the second time within three weeks. On Wednesday, February 7, Maloney initially mistook the object for a star, but upon closer inspection, he realized it was something he had never seen before.

Expressing his excitement, Maloney said, “It’s very exciting to think about the possibility of aliens and knowing that it might be intelligent life. I was very shocked to see something so strange again in the sky.”

Maloney managed to capture an image of the unidentified object, which can be viewed on the The Bolton News website.

Expert Opinion on UFO Sightings

While Maloney believes he witnessed a UFO, Radio Astronomy Professor Michael Garrett, who holds the Sir Bernard Lovell chair of Astrophysics at the University of Manchester, has a different perspective. According to Professor Garrett, there is no solid evidence of extraterrestrial spacecraft visiting our planet.

Professor Garrett stated, “People do see strange things in the sky and things that are unusual, but I don’t think there is an extraterrestrial explanation. There are new sky links launched on a daily basis, which can often be mistaken for UFOs.”

Professor Garrett is also a member of the Search for Extra-terrestrial Intelligence (SETI) project, which searches for signs of advanced civilizations on other planets. The project analyzes various signals, including radio waves and waste heat, similar to those emitted by our own planet.

The Search for Alien Life Continues

Professor Garrett acknowledges that the question of whether there is other life in the universe remains unanswered. However, he believes that advancements in AI technology and the improvement of telescopes will aid in the search for answers.

He explained, “As AI continues to advance, it is a great tool when trying to find out and assess any data, including the improvement of the telescope. It’s hard to tell because it depends on how far away those civilizations are and how much energy they are using and how long they have been around, because if they don’t stick around for too long, the chances of detecting them in our galaxy is quite small.”

Previous UFO Sightings in Bolton

Maloney is not the only resident of Bolton to have reported a UFO sighting. Last month, Warren Booth and Paul Longstaff claimed to have witnessed strange objects in the sky. Bolton has also been noted for having one of the highest numbers of UFO sightings in the country, according to the UFO database website, UFO Identified.
