Man Arrested and Charged in Connection with Shooting Near Wright State University

A Springfield man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that occurred in a parking lot near Wright State University on Tuesday. The suspect, 35-year-old Brandon Tindall, was apprehended by Fairborn detectives on Thursday and transported to the Greene County Jail without incident.

During the arrest, detectives also recovered a handgun, which has been booked into evidence. Tindall now faces multiple charges, including having weapons while under disability, tampering with evidence, carrying a concealed weapon, and violation of a temporary protection order. He is scheduled to appear in Fairborn Municipal Court.

The shooting took place just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, when several 911 callers reported a man being shot at the University Shoppes parking lot. The victim, who sustained two gunshot wounds, was found by police upon their arrival. He was immediately transported to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.

As part of the investigation, authorities obtained surveillance video from Texas Roadhouse, located near the scene of the incident. The footage revealed the presence of Tindall, a woman identified as the mother of his children, and at least one other individual near a white Chevrolet Suburban and maroon SUV in the parking lot.

According to court records, the video did not capture the events that transpired at the side of the Suburban, but it did show people fleeing the area after the altercation. Tindall subsequently returned to the SUV and left the parking lot.

Investigators interviewed the woman, who explained that she had arranged to meet Tindall for dinner and to allow him to see their children. She claimed to have had no knowledge of the victim’s presence in the parking lot and revealed that she and Tindall had argued earlier that day about their relationship.

During Tindall’s interrogation, he recounted the victim approaching him and initiating a physical assault. Tindall asserted that he retrieved his pistol in self-defense and fired two shots at the victim, who then fled the scene. He admitted to driving back to his residence in Springfield and discarding the bullets from his gun near his home.

It has been confirmed that a protection order exists between Tindall and the woman involved. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as more information emerges..
