Methamphetamine Trafficking Investigation Leads to Six Arrests and Seizure of $340k Worth of Drugs in Athens

Law enforcement agencies from two states have successfully concluded a lengthy investigation into methamphetamine trafficking in Athens, resulting in the arrest of six individuals and the seizure of over $340,000 worth of methamphetamine.

The Northeast Georgia Regional Drug Task Force, in collaboration with the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina, the Athens-Clarke County police Department, and sheriff offices from Clarke, Greene, Walton, and Oglethorpe counties, led the operation.

The investigation reached its climax with the execution of search warrants at Hallmark Estates on Spring Valley Road and Pinewood Estates North on U.S. Highway 29 N. During the raids, law enforcement agents seized 39 kilograms of methamphetamine, along with approximately $32,000 in cash and a Springfield Armory 9mm pistol.

All suspects involved in the methamphetamine trafficking ring were charged with trafficking the illegal substance. The arrested individuals have been identified as Bryant McLaughlin of Dillon, SC, Sammy Fleming of Eastover, SC, Charles Armstrong of Loganville, David Glaze of Monroe, and Hallmark Estates residents Edgar Garcia-Hernandez and Jose Macias-Garcia.
