Mumbai Police Reveals New Details in Connection with Abhishek Ghosalkar’s Murder
The Mumbai Police has uncovered fresh details in the investigation into the murder of Abhishek Ghosalkar, a prominent leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT) party. The police have arrested the bodyguard of accused Mauris Noronha under the Arms Act, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Abhishek Ghosalkar, the son of former Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Vinod Ghosalkar, was fatally shot during a Facebook live stream in Borivali, a suburb of Mumbai. The video quickly went viral, capturing the shocking moment when Ghosalkar was attacked by his old political rival, Mauris Noronha. Noronha, who later took his own life, had allegedly nursed a grudge against Ghosalkar.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has registered two FIRs (First Information Reports) in connection with the murder, and two teams have been formed to investigate the case. The police have also recorded statements from Noronha’s family members, including his wife. It has been revealed that Noronha suspected Ghosalkar of implicating him in a rape case, which led to his imprisonment for nearly five months.

According to the police, Noronha had political aspirations of his own and wanted to win Ghosalkar’s trust. He even put up banners supporting Ghosalkar in his area. On the day of the incident, Noronha called Ghosalkar to his office, suggesting they do a Facebook Live to announce their decision to bury the hatchet and work together. However, during the live stream, Noronha used his bodyguard’s pistol to shoot Ghosalkar multiple times before turning the gun on himself.
The police have arrested the bodyguard, identified as Amarendra Mishra, under section 29 (B) of the Arms Act for allegedly handing over the weapon to Noronha without verifying his legal permission to possess it.
The Mumbai Police, under the supervision of Joint Commissioner of Police Satya Narayan and Deputy Commissioner of Police Datta Nalawade, are diligently working to unravel the complexities of this case. A total of six rounds were fired during the incident, with five targeting Ghosalkar and one being shot by Noronha at himself.
This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the political landscape of Mumbai, and the police are committed to bringing justice to the victim and his family.
