Lisbon Jury Trial Continued for Man Charged in Rusty Steele’s Shooting Death
A jury trial scheduled to begin on Monday for Christopher Mills, who is accused of being involved in the shooting death of Rusty Steele in March 2023, has been postponed. Mills, 54, was indicted by the Columbiana County Grand Jury last August on charges of complicity to aggravated murder, complicity to murder, and firearm specifications. He also faces an obstructing justice charge related to the same incident.
The defense attorney, Charles Amato, filed a motion for continuance on February 6, citing ongoing negotiations to settle the case as the reason for the delay. Mills was allegedly the driver who transported Michael Blower to and from the scene of the fatal shooting of 40-year-old Rusty Steele, according to the police. Blower, who pleaded guilty to murder and firearm specification charges in January, is currently awaiting sentencing.
At the time of the incident, authorities revealed that an unidentified third party lured Steele outside, where Blower shot him in the chest. The police stated that Steele and Blower had been engaged in an argument, presumably about a relationship.
