Seven people have lost their lives and 15 others have been severely injured in a tragic accident that occurred near Musunuru toll plaza in Kavali, Nellore district. The collision involved two lorries and a private bus and took place in the early hours of Saturday.
According to the police, the accident happened when a lorry crashed into another lorry that was parked. Simultaneously, a private travel bus coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with the vehicles. The impact of the collision was so severe that the front part of the bus was completely crushed.
Upon receiving the distress call, the police rushed to the scene and started the rescue operation. Unfortunately, two lorry drivers, the bus driver, and four passengers succumbed to their injuries and lost their lives. The injured individuals were immediately taken to a local government hospital for medical treatment.
The accident occurred around 2 am when a truck carrying cattle to Srikalahasti was hit from behind by another truck carrying iron. Subsequently, the private travel bus traveling from Chennai to Hyderabad collided with the lorries. The mishap occurred just a few meters away from Musunuru toll plaza towards Buchireddipalem road in Kavali mandal.

The ill-fated private travel bus was carrying a total of 43 passengers who were on their way to Hyderabad from Chennai. Among the deceased passengers, two have been identified as Rupa (32) and Suresh (33) from Chennai. The process of identifying the remaining victims is currently underway. In order to retrieve the bodies and rescue the injured passengers, the police had to utilize gas cutters.
A case has been registered regarding the accident and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the collision. It is indeed a heartbreaking incident that has claimed multiple lives and left several others in critical condition.
