Military police Block Exits as Investigation into Fatal Accident Begins
Early Saturday morning, military police officers from the Directorate of Emergency Services at Fort Cavazos took immediate action to block off all exits to the main gate. This was in response to a fatal one-vehicle accident that occurred near the gate at around 5 a.m.

Driver Identified as 32-Year-Old Killeen Man
Sergeant Brian Washko, spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, has identified the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident as 32-year-old Renardo Anthony Roper, a resident of Killeen. Roper was driving a 2010 BMW sedan westbound on Business Highway 190, near the T.J. Mills overpass, at the time of the incident.
According to Washko, Roper failed to stay in a single lane, causing his vehicle to veer off an embankment and collide into the northbound lanes of T.J. Mills. Tragically, Roper was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Nicola James.

The investigation into the accident is still ongoing, with troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety working diligently to gather all the necessary evidence. The exact cause of the accident has yet to be determined, and authorities are examining all possible factors that may have contributed to the tragic incident.
