Florida Man Arrested After Attempted Kidnapping at Miami Beach CVS
A shocking incident unfolded at a CVS pharmacy in Miami Beach, Florida, when a 4-year-old boy was nearly snatched by an assailant. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, was captured on CCTV and ended with the boy’s brave father intervening to protect his son.
According to local news outlet WPLG Local10, the incident took place at approximately 11:55 a.m. as the boy and his parents were leaving the pharmacy located on the corner of Collins Avenue and 74th Street in the city’s North Beach area. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Nicolas Sternaman, can be seen on the footage walking into the store before abruptly grabbing the boy by the neck.
In a split-second reaction, the boy’s father swiftly stepped in, grappling with Sternaman and pulling him away from his son. As the father fought to free his child, the boy’s mother rushed to pick him up and bring him to safety inside the store. The harrowing scene ended with Sternaman fleeing the scene.

However, Sternaman’s escape was short-lived. Witnesses and the boy’s father gave chase, pursuing Sternaman southbound on Collins Avenue. The police eventually joined the pursuit and apprehended Sternaman near 71st Street. He now faces charges of aggravated child abuse and kidnapping a child.
This is not the first time Sternaman has encountered the law. In fact, he was recently arrested on Jan. 3 for petit theft and was released on a $150 bond. Despite his arrest, Sternaman has remained tight-lipped about his motives for allegedly attempting to abduct the child.
The boy’s father, speaking to WPLG Local10, urged parents to remain vigilant and keep a close eye on their children at all times. The incident has left the family shaken, with the boy’s mother describing it as “terrifying.”
Eyewitness Zachary Jefferson, who was at the register during the incident, recounted the shock and confusion that ensued. “Everyone was just shocked because it was so quick and it was so fast. The guy just came out of nowhere,” Jefferson said.
